Understanding the use of up-to-date tools to improve supply-chain performance. On the way to last-mile access for essential medicines.
Training objectives
- Define and measure supply-chain performance.
- Master supply-chain planning and execution.
- Diagnose and improve supply-chain performance.
What the training offers
The buyer’s toolbox — trains buyers by addressing various aspects such as purchasing-portfolio analysis, challenging the needs expressed by prescribers, reducing supplier risk, market analysis, developing a procurement strategy, analysing supplier prices and costs, as well as negotiation and supplier-performance-management tools.
Supply-chain practice — improves supply-chain performance using tools to control and steer the necessary resources. Participants learn to assess target performance levels and to diagnose the supply chain.
Supply-chain logistics — enables participants to design and implement a strategy suited to the challenges of the logistics chain. It addresses societal dimensions, flow and stock management, logistics and transport solutions, as well as IT tools and supply-chain projects.
Participatory process improvement — explains how to involve employees in improving their activities. Participants learn to stimulate collective reflection to identify work processes, spot problems and solve them in collaboration with the stakeholders involved. The goal is to redesign new processes to better satisfy beneficiaries and the actors involved.
Lean practices to reduce waste — focus on applying Lean principles to improve system performance, increase productivity and reduce waste. They teach methods to optimise a warehouse, improve productivity and reduce stocks.
Methods and tools to solve a problem — explain how to set up a problem-solving approach. Participants learn different methods and tools to analyse and effectively solve the problems encountered in their professional environment.

Teaching method and learning techniques
Teaching method: interrogative and discovery-based method.
Learning techniques:
- case studies;
- individual and group exercises;
- field activities: technical site visits;
- the trainers involved have experience in the field of medicines management.
Participatory teaching takes into account each participant’s experience. For greater effectiveness, the pedagogical approach is concrete, participatory and encourages exchange. Technical input is enriched by shared discussions and analyses based on real situations. The intervention methodology aims to build specific tools and methods, shared by each professional and based on the needs identified throughout the support.
