“The best way to predict the future is to create it.” — Peter Drucker
Context
“The approaches for managing projects successfully have changed.” — Eddie Obeng

In today’s constantly changing world, we face many challenges described as VUCA-FANI (Volatile, Uncertain, Complex, Ambiguous — Fragile, Anxious, Non-linear, Incomprehensible). Events such as the Ebola outbreak, Brexit and the Covid-19 pandemic have shown that these challenges are unpredictable, interconnected and require adaptable solutions. Organisations must cultivate agility, a culture of continuous learning and transformative thinking to address these problems effectively.
The key to lasting success lies both in exploiting the known — leveraging existing strengths and recognising current paradigms — and in exploring the unknown — developing new ideas and creating innovative approaches. The “Beneficiary-Centred Project Management” training programme aims to help organisations transform the way they think and innovate. It provides the skills needed to navigate the VUCA-FANI world by fostering knowledge, vigilance and insight, thereby adding value to their initiatives to create a better world.
The Centre Humanitaire des Métiers de la Pharmacie (CHMP), with its extensive expertise in consulting and support, understands the importance of staying relevant and having a positive impact in the face of change. The CHMP is convinced that good preparation and openness to change are crucial for success. This is why the training programme champions the idea that “the problem is the solution” and introduces participants to various innovation tools to encourage forward-looking thinking and effective project management. These tools include the 4W (Why, Who, What, Way), the context-study canvas, the value-proposition canvas, the mission-model canvas, as well as beneficiary-engagement tools (Test Card and Learning Card).

Teaching method
Masterclasses and bootcamps are used to help participants understand the beneficiary-centred approach to project management and to practise using innovation tools. Learning takes place through projects, case studies and group exercises to familiarise them with the practical application of innovation tools. The goal is to strengthen their ability to effectively solve real-world challenges by developing relevant solutions that address the underlying problems.
In addition, it is important to note that:
- the facilitators involved in the programme have experience in strategic management and innovation;
- the teaching method is concrete, participatory, encourages exchange and takes into account each participant’s experience;
- the technical contributions are enriched by collective discussions and analyses based on real situations;
- the intervention methodology aims to create learning tools and approaches tailored to each participant, according to the needs identified during the programme.
